However, this piece of work has stood the test of time. Well, the past two weeks. That exceeds the lifespan of many previous so-called great ideas!
I have designed 3 new units in the past few weeks for the new Civics/Government focus of 8th grade, with the new state frameworks. I wrote this diagram after making the first unit with a UBD template and after taking the FLGI course; I applied it to writing the other two units. I have not yet made it far past the "ASSESSMENTS" and "group-space" boxes, but the Need2Know material is embedded in the unit plans so it shouldn't be hard to write the quizzes. One part I really like is the step of defining what proficient and advanced products would look like. [example below] That will help when I get to the nitty-gritty details of producing and assessing those items.
Now I should go and start working on Unit 4!
* No, this is not an infomercial for any product, and I am not being compensated in any way for this blog post. I'm not clever enough to figure out that kind of side hustle. The link is just there for your convenience, and to prove I didn't make this thing up. Relax....
