Somehow I have been operating quite well so far, despite only sleeping between 2-5AM this morning. I'd better get today's obligatory blog post written and posted before I lose all brain function. (As if it makes a difference, the blog reader mumbled.) Today's edition will be in bulleted list form as a bunch of semi-formed thoughts that I might expand upon someday later....
- I'm working on a list of things that my 8th grade cluster teammates and I need to agree upon, like cameras on or off during live Zoom sessions. There are some things that will be decided schoolwide -- grading policies, length of live sessions, which LMS to use, etc. -- but others that are left to teachers' discretion. I think the more consistent we are, the better the results will be.
- Zooming as a student is hard! I saw a tweet where a teacher reported that her private school principal required his staff to take at least 1 online PD to gain perspective on their students' experience. Great move! At this point I have lost count of how many webinars and synchronous workshops I've attended, but they have certainly been valuable for that purpose (as well as their actual content, of course).
- The school committee for my home district had an emergency meeting yesterday about the re-opening plan, which I thought was officially finalized. Didn't find out about that meeting until after it was over, and I'll let my tweet and GIF speak for themselves:
