That is what the Massachusetts DESE announced on Friday, with a document that seems to satisfy absolutely nobody. Its message was actually eerily similar to this joke tweet from two days prior:
- 100% student attendance, while following health protocols and social distancing
- 100% remote-learning
- a "hybrid" model
I suppose I can understand some wisdom in preparing three different models for schooling, so that we can shift from one to the other as circumstances demand it. This spring was complicated and crazy for many reasons, not least of which was the fact that we didn't get much time or opportunity to prepare for changed instruction. Well, of course I felt more ready than most, but even still it was a struggle.
After living through several months of wondering and instability, I think we just wanted to be told what to expect. But that is just too much to expect at this point, with almost 10 weeks until the first day of school.
