Now I wish that I had spent more time back in September to assess, analyze, practice these core skills. Some students have horrible note-taking techniques; a few of them seem to succeed anyway, but I've done triage with others on a case-by-base basis.
Does your middle or high school have a note-taking class? Nope, probably not. Mine neither. So we must do our best to maintain and to build those skills in context. That's probably the most appropriate and effective method, but what comes off our plate to make room for it??
