Psyched for Fliptech2020!

I expect it will get even tougher to maintain my blog-a-day streak next week, because the presentations and live sessions of this truly flipped conference are going to occupy lots of attention from tomorrow onward.
Holy frackin carp, check out the current number of signups!! 😀

I think at the start of the planning for this, everyone involved would have been happy with 100. Now I'm getting greedy for 1000. It's so cool to see the global reach -- folks from Saudi Arabia, Montreal, England, Puerto Rico, Ecuador... and wide variety of grade levels & subjects! The rate of signups has steadily increased: we got 60 new ones yesterday, and almost 100 new interested attendees so far today (at 6:30pm my time)!
I was feeling weird about having 3 presentations, but eventually got over that. Earlier today, I recorded a Facebook Live "hype video" that seemed to gather some more attention. Might do the same tomorrow morning before the livechats begin. Here is the clickable schedule for tomorrow!

    Who is this flipping guy?!

Andrew Swan has survived 20 full years of teaching middle school (currently grade 8 US Civics/Government in a Boston suburb). Previously he taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English, US History, geography, and ancient history in Massachusetts and Maine.
For the past 7 years, Andrew has flipped nearly all his direct instruction to give more class time for simulations, deep discussions, analyzing primary sources, etc. ... and also to promote mastery for students at all levels.
His wonderful wife and his 2 high school-age children indulge Andrew's blogging, tweeting, & other behaviors. These include co-moderating the #sschat Twitter sessions and Facebook page.
Andrew does not always refer to himself in the third-person.
