- I really wish that I had taken a "before" picture!! Then you could recognize the improvements I made from the dark-brown wood paneling and chipped white trim. Pedagogically, we often make the same mistake: ignoring the power of pre-assessments. What did they know before we started the unit? Even kids who ended with less-than-impressive comprehension might have made significant progress, if they started from zero. (This porch basically started at zero.)
- Imperfection is sometimes OK. Please don't look too closely at the gaps above the windows. And if you do, then WHAT THE FLIP ARE YOU DOING?!?! Find another hobby, and get outta my house!! Sometimes we spend too much energy on very minor details that few students / parents / admins / colleagues would notice or care about. My right shoulder could attest to this fact.
